Sparedyr is a modern piggy bank made by the iconic Kähler Design of Denmark.
Historically inspired, the ceramic piggy bank was first conceived in the Kähler workshops of the 1920s. Late one night, artist Nils Kähler created the imaginative piggy bank as a way of honing his artisan’s skills. What started as nothing more than a creative exercise became part of Kähler’s official catalog, and one of the most popular products in the history of the workshop.
The fish piggy bank is a little work of art that stands out for its distinctive appearance and charm. It is equally at home in the living room, master bedroom or even a stylish children’s bedroom. It makes a perfect gift for baptisms, weddings and other special occasions.
Each ceramic piggy bank has meticulously hand-decorated eyes and a coin slot on their back. Money can be retrieved via a hole in the bottom that is sealed with a cork plug.
A distinctive glaze and hand decoration means that each Sparedyr is unique.
Kähler Design creates accessible art for the people.
Now a leading Scandinavian design brand, its roots go back to 1839 as a small Danish pottery producer. For more than 175 years, its tradition has been to collaborate with significant artists to provide distinctive and contemporary collections.
Kähler is firmly established as part of Danish cultural heritage, and it strives to preserve history and traditions in each handmade design.
